At Outside Lands—the most environmentally friendly festival in the world—we convinced the youth that Intel was one of the good guys. How? We started with Dance Dance Revolution and ended with a giant solar-powered windmill.

The Event

We created a Dance Dance Revolution (DDR)-style game called “Bring Back The Bong” (inspired by the iconic Intel “bong”). This was made from brand new code using Epic Games’ latest Unreal Engine.

The inside area also included a Bamboo Garden (complete with Augmented Reality koi fish) for some much-needed R&R in the midst of the festival chaos.

Adventurous fans who scanned the QR codes in the Bamboo Garden discovered the pond also doubled as an AR fishing game where they could win VIP upgrades including SOMA fast lane access.

For the first time in the Outside Lands 15-year history, we customized their iconic windmill using solar panels completely powered by Intel, making the symbol sustainably powered for every festival to come.
